APPLICATION PART IV Continued - Applicant Statement on Commitment to Serving the Cultural Community


The Washington International Competition seeks to support outstanding artists of the highest caliber who are creating and enhancing new performance opportunities in an effort to develop audience attendance, interest, participation and support. This competition aspires to benefit the community as well as the performing artist.

Give a detailed statement of one page or less describing your commitment to serving the cultural community. Do not put your name on this statement.




Print this page and use as a checklist - submit with your application.

  1. Complete the application form with your signature.
  2. List of required repertoire with timing of all sections WITH YOUR NAME.
  3. List the recorded repertoire with timing of all sections WITHOUT YOUR NAME.
  4. The CD insert, a list of the recorded repertoire on each track of the CD with the timing of each selection.
  5. A detailed statement of one page or less describing your commitment to serving the cultural community and how your use of the prize money and performance opportunities would strengthen this commitment.
  6. Enclose a copy of your birth certificate or other proof of age.
  7. If you want your application acknowledged, include a self addressed, stamped postcard.
  8. If you want your CD returned, include a stamped padded envelope with your return address on it.
  9. Non refundable fee: $75 Checks are made to Friday Morning Music Club Foundation. Make checks only in US Dollars drawn on US banks or money orders in US Dollars.
  10. Education and Experience: On a separate paper answer the following:
    • List the music schools and/or college that you have attended, years attended, and major teacher or teachers at each and the degrees you earned.
    • List of teachers with whom you have studied privately as an advanced student and the years of study with each - begin with the most recent.
    • Music scholarships or awards received. Give dates and amounts.
    • Important public appearances (not all need to be listed.) Include dates and locations.
    • Do not enlarge the print on each page.
